INCOMPARABLE PORQUIER BEAU !

Diverse forms, elegant designs, fine painting: the essence of their output in the late 19th century.

Double Tea Pot

5-1/4" high, 8" long from handle to spout, 4-1/2" x 2-1/2" base. What a wonderful mix: Chinese form, Rouen-inspired decoration, the total effect making it a standout on shelf or table. There is very minor rim wear on the larger pot, along with several tiny glaze skips there and on the top of the handle, but overall condition remarkable for its age. Signed with the intersecting P and B of Porquier Beau on bottom of pot and underside of lid.

$650, $40 shipping.

Handled Small Tray

8-1/2" long, 5-5/8" wide, 2-3/4" high to top of gently arched handle.  This is a rare historic scene that documents the coming of the chemins de fer to Brittany and is enhanced with a classic Quimper arabesque border. Mère et ses enfants are raptly watching the iron monster wend its way across the Brittany fields
outside of Guengat, a bit northwest of Quimper itself. This deserves special placement on a
sideboard or coffee table so that it may be picked up and studied. Signed with the intersecting P and B of Porquier Beau, as well as our restorer's three red dots, signifying a modest conservation to keep the integrity of the piece.

$875, $50 shipping.

Double Shell Dish

9" long, 4" wide, 3" to top of handle. A quite different borrowing from the old Rouen patterns: here birds, flowers and cornucopias are happily mingled on a traditional Quimper shell form. It is signed on the bottom and also bears our restorer's three red dots. This was a modest conservation measure; one should be able to use this, with care...just gently hand wash! We see this as an after-dinner adjunct, with nuts and candy, or even on the breakfast table with butter and jam. Yum, however you choose!

$150, $15 shipping.
