JARDINIERES & VASES: Elegant forms, beautiful decors, luscious colors ... any of these will show off the bounty of your garden, or sit alone as striking decoration for tables, sideboards, mantels. They were designed for that purpose, each factory producing many shapes and designs. |

![]() ![]() Oval jardinière, 14" x 8" x 4-5/8" high. S: HB. A true classic, first done by the de la Hubaudière factory in the late 19th century. See the frontispiece of our book, Collecting Quimper, for an identical model, and note how even a casual arrangement from the garden works well. There is restoration on one of the paw feet, commonplace for this piece. (You may see the damaged paws on the one in the book!) Now perfect, just hand-wash.$2400. |

![]() Flask vase: 11" high x 6-1/4" across x 3-1/2" base diameter. S: Pont L'Abbé, Porquier Beau (the intersecting PB). Another classic, with one of the best-loved of that genre's scenes on one side, soft floral sprays of sweet peas on the back. There is some very modest glaze rubbing around the rim, original to the manufacture, and consistent with the glaze skips at the base.$2200. |

![]() Scalloped-top vase: 11-5/8" high, 7" diameter at flared midsection. S: HB Quimper, front and bottom. The bold shape and strong colors enhance the scene of a milkmaid in the front, traditional floral sprays verso. There has been a minor restoration to one of the top scallops which does not affect the beauty or utility of this vase.$675. |

![]() ![]() Pair of biniou vases: 11" high, 7" long, 3-1/2" deep. S: HB Quimper verso, and a most unusual stamp on the unglazed bottom: Collection Privee Chateau du Plessis. The elongated form is very dramatic, the colors are soft, and both figures and flowers charmingly rendered. We see them with simple feathery greens in summer and delicate dried flowers in winter.$750. the pair |

![]() ![]() ![]() Pair bulb pots/jardinières: 9" long, 7" high, 5" deep. S: HB (with that proud swoop curling under the B).The 8-hole inserts are removable; the holes are almost 1" in diameter, which means one could force all sorts of spring-flowering bulbs, not just crocus. Or remove the inserts (please show them off close by, on a plate stand, they are so pretty in themselves)and use these magnificent pots as cache-pots (needlepoint ivy, African violets ... our imagination runs riot with these). The cartouches en camaïeu bleu are exquisitely rendered country scenes of birds and trees. The tiny spot of clay showing on the front of the main rooster cartouche is an original glaze skip, as is the one at the center, top of that one; they are in over-all magnificent condition, an astonishing find in every way, considering their age and delicate usefulness.$3200. the pair |
