Collecting Quimper: Our Philosophy

Antique Copper & Brass: Oh, the melting warmth of old metals, well-crafted, lovingly polished, and gratefully used and cared for over the decades! We think the little bit of care they need is more than worth it for the glow they cast on our kitchens and tables. Whenever we are in France, we try to find some of these charmers to bring to you, our Francophile collectors.

A set of brass measures, ranging from 1 cl. to 1/2 liter in size. Six in all, in beautiful condition, they make a handsome row upon a shelf and can also easily hang by way of their sturdy strap handles. The largest is 3-1/4 " high, 3-3/8" diameter, almost 8" to the top of the handle, on down to the smallest at 1" high, less than that in diameter, 2-1/2" to the top of the handle. We also imagine them in a random grouping, filled with greens and flowers, to spark a festive table setting.

Old French Horse Brass Trio: The three brasses on their handsome leather strap bring age and dignity to the art of decorating the horse's bridle, or the rider's wall of trophies and souvenirs, post-hunting, post horse-show. This piece measures 14-1/2" to the top of the brass buckle, which would be the perfect hanger to put it up on. The leather strap is old enough so that it has become brittle and dried out in the back, but the front portion and the backing of the brasses is fine and heavy and should last out everyone's lifetime.

Set of four little ring molds, French, 19th century. It was impressed on me, by the very knowledgeable dealer I bought these from, that these are 19th century cake molds! Tiny, each is 3" in diameter and less than 1/2" high. Baba au rhum, methinks, or a savarin, perhaps. All sorts of enchanting possibilities present themselves: individual jelly molds, flower-filled ice molds - take your favorite cookbook, and let your imagination play!

$300.00 the set of four
