The quilts range in price from
$450 to $600 ... they measure approximately 58-60" by 84-96".They are
vegetable-dyed and completely (hand) washable. Trust us: we have tested
four of them! Look how well they go with the pottery! |

AP ravier, ca. 1880:
unusual and useful, $1200; shown here on one of our vintage Indian
quilts. |

HenRiot tea set, ca.1922,
each piece with a different figure taken from the Porquier Beau
archives. (There is a bite out of the underside of the teatray rim,
which does not affect its appearance nor usefulness.) $1500 complete.
The quilt we have chosen for this one picks up all the colors and
patterns of the pottery! |

Botanical
Paintings: These are modern paintings, done in the tradition of the
Rajasthan school of miniature paintings (families who have done this
kind of painting for generations), but they have been done on old
British court stamp bills. We found them everywhere on our first trip
and decided they were like salted peanuts: could not stop reaching for
more! And our clients loved them, and they went (just like salted
peanuts!). When we returned in October, they were high on our shopping
list, but much harder to find! |

In fact, as so often happens, the Indians are now
faking the old bills so they can continue this particular presentation.
We were super-careful in our choices, once we realized this, and are
pleased to be able to offer a goodly selection again. |

Our framer floats them on acid-free matboard, so they
are ready to be neatly framed, and we have them in protective envelopes
(which accounts for the glare spots, sorry!). They measure
approximately10" x 14" each. The simple flowers are $195 each;
all of the
elaborate botanicals in their hand-painted bower of flowers and the birds
are sold. There are more of the botanicals, other
flowers, other colors, but, for the moment, these are the only birds.
They make wonderful groupings: the paper is interesting, the ink
printing is dense, and the paintings are really exquisite. |
